Cold pressed coconut oil is a modified form of the normal coconut oil that has a unique method of production. The initial material employed to produce this kind of oil is unique too. The terminology used in ‘cold pressed' coconut oil is generally used to denote ‘virgin' coconut oils.
During the production of this kind of virgin coconut oil that is synonymous with cold pressed coconut oil is the need to lessen the ultimate level of moisture to a point lower than or equal to 0.1%. This is mandatory as the oil gets bad and rotted if this is not followed.
The method used for this purpose is of two types. The initial method was the traditional method in which the coconut oil milk was extracted through the hands itself. This milk is a blend of oil, water, minerals and proteins. The blend is fermented for 2 days and the oil gets divorced from the water and solid protein. The moisture is removed by boiling the oil to high temperatures.
The other method may be the direct-micro-expeller that is carried out similarly to the above traditional method except the fact that the unsullied meat is dehydrated and later crushed. The oil is delicate and the esters gather together to form a pleasant aroma.
